Definition of culture

A set of memes shared by most people in society. The term first used by the Roman orator Cicero: “cultura animi” (cultivation of the soul). Culture is a form and a subset of collective knowledge. Each isolated community builds its own culture. Culture is the result of the progressive activity and communication of a large number of people living in close proximity to each other.
