Definition of luden

A representative of the third human kind. An individual who has two human instincts—the impulse to know and the impulse to change.

Ludens have the ability to ignore public opinion and resist the urge to conform with the majority. They are responsible for heating up the memetic pool. They introduce radical new ideas that lead to innovations and drive the Vertical Progress.

This name was invented by Soviet science fiction writers, the Strugatsky brothers. They introduced this term in their novel “The Waves Extinguish the Wind.”
